At Fanatics Collectibles, we believe that trading cards should be cards for life. Trading cards aren't just consumer goods; they're also investment assets whose long-term value is a function of market forces. When creating cards & communicating about cards, we are guided by a holistic understanding of supply/demand dynamics, both on the primary & secondary market level. In this role, you will work in tandem with our data team to analyze market data & formulate strategy based on those insights. You will help us leverage data to grow the market & create long-term value for our customers & collectors.
 
Fanatics Collectibles is also dedicated to the principle of data transparency & the belief that trading card markets - both primary & secondary - are best served by an abundance of information. Sharing data & communicating decisions with maximal transparency ensures fairness, improves efficiency, & creates greater value for market stakeholders. In this role, you will oversee the communication of public-facing data across multiple channels: organic content & data-driven storytelling, thought leadership, media, product, & brand messaging. You will work cross-functionally with the data & marketing teams to ensure that the data we share is legible & compelling for all audiences.
 
Responsibilities
 
Building & leading a best-in-class data-driven storytelling team, & incorporating data & insights across all organic content channels (auction recaps, editorial, social, etc)
 
Analyzing secondary market price data, including the value of sealed wax & singles, to formulate distribution & supply strategy & communicate to public audiences
 
Working in tandem with the data team to build consumer data tools that can help collectors track their investments & assess prospective purchases 
 
Leveraging primary & secondary market data to create a holistic economic model of the trading card market, & communicating insights from that model to public audiences
 
Leveraging outside data sources - including sports stats & advanced player metrics - to identify the determinants of card values & communicate these insights through owned channels
 
Establishing Fanatics Collectibles as the undisputed thought leader in the trading card space by helping to write white papers, support media opps, & lead or assist in public communications initiatives
 
Prior Experience:
 
5-10 years of experience in data-driven content strategy, data journalism, or data science editorial
 
Bachelor's degree or equivalent. Advanced graduate work in economics, statistics, or other social sciences preferred 
 
Extensive experience in copywriting and/or editorial content creation
 
Experience building & leading a team of writers and/or data analysts
 
 Comfort working in a fast paced, variable & entrepreneurial environment 
 
Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally across marketing, data science, & communications teams
 
Experience with database systems & applications (Tableau, Periscope, MSSQL)
 
Experience building public-facing data visualizations as well as data visualizations that can be leveraged across the organization
 
Familiarity & facility with major league sports & player performance data
 
Understanding of the trading card market market & how it functions; passion for card collecting preferred but not required
