Hi, we're Oscar. We're looking for a Director of Diversity!

Oscar is a technology-driven, consumer-focused health insurance startup founded in 2012 & headquartered in New York City. Our goal is to make health insurance simple, transparent, & human. We need your help to do so.

About the role:

The Director of Diversity will design & manage a multi-year program roadmap & make immediate progress towards implementation to ensure the continuous operation of the Diversity function. They'll partner closely with the other Heads of People Programming (Learning & Development, Performance Management, Culture & Engagement) to ensure all four core programming functions are working together to build a robust, integrated programming infrastructure. They'll also work closely with leaders across the company to guide, liaise, or counsel on strategic initiatives related to Oscar offerings & services that will improve the health insurance experiences for members disproportionately disadvantaged by the healthcare system.

You'll report to the Head of People Programming. This is a hybrid role, & you will work part of the time in the New York office & part of the time working remotely.


  • Design, build, & execute on a Diversity function roadmap. Ensure your stakeholders, management, & team members are bought in.
  • Regularly partner with the Employee Resource Groups (ERG) so they feel integrated in the Oscar culture.
  • Ensure there is leadership within the ERG Leadership Committee to ensure the group has a focused plan & trajectory.
  • Work with the communications team, People leadership, & company leadership to craft messaging in response to social issues that impact the well-being of our employees.
  • Act as owner & central point of coordination for planning, drafting, & publishing of Oscar's Annual Diversity Report.
  • Partner with the other heads of programming & People leaders to evolve Diversity's metrics & analytics to ensure they identify critical gaps & help guide solutioning.


  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of professional experience.
  • Experience building & leading diversity & inclusion programming.
  • Experience partnering with & advising executive leadership.
  • People management experience.
  • 12+ years corporate experience, preferably in large, complex organizations; tech-focused organizations, and/or fast scaling organizations.
  • 7+ years experience in leading diversity programming.

Bonus points:

  • Master's degree or advanced certifications
