hi everyone,

happy happy chilly new year! hope you all had some down time.

it's time to hit the ground running again and we present you with the next meetup, focused on the gender imbalance in CS education and job market. this topic seems to be getting a lot press lately. fred wrote a great blog about it a week ago (http://www.avc.com/a_vc/2013/12/girls-who-code.html).

i think we all recognize that there is a gap in enthusiasm and participation, so let's move on from that. now is the time to address it with specific ideas, tricks, strategies, big or small. we will have a few speakers from the field (and a student as well) talking about what we can do to introduce, encourage, familiarize and eventually federate a new wave of female rockstars.

if you have any suggestions, please don't hesitate to reach out. [masked]. we want to constantly improve the meetups so we have a diverse group of participants and interesting topics to discuss, so pass this along and bring a friend. as always, beer and sandwiches will be served :)
