Talk 1:

Title: Opinionated Plotting Tools for Common Visualizations

Description: D3 is a fantastic resource for making beautiful data visualizations but it can be cumbersome for creating common plots (i.e. histogram, scatter plot, pie chart). In such cases, sacrificing customizability for simplicity may be desirable. This tradeoff is explored in existing D3 wrappers and beyond.

Bio: Nathan Epstein holds a B.S. in Applied Mathematics from Columbia University and is a Teaching Fellow at Fullstack Academy of Code (highly recommended program for aspiring full stack web developers).

Talk 2:

Title: D3.js For Beginners - D3.js Scales & Axes

Description: This talk is for pure & early beginners to the D3.js library. We will cover the D3.js Scales & Axes through lots and lots of examples.

Bio: Sebastian Gutierrez specializes in creating Actionable Data Visualizations from complex and rich data sets. If you like or are interested in data science, you should read his recently released book Data Scientists at Work. He tweets at @DashingD3js.
