A roundtable discussion with former investment bankers who made the leap into the world of startups

Investment bankers are becoming a driving force behind many of today's successful startups. If you're tired of building excel models, editing powerpoints and running "scenarios" then join four reformed investment bankers as they discuss their journey from Wall Street to Silicon Alley and learn how you too can make the leap.

Roundtable participants:

Jameson Weber, Hightower
Jameson is VP of Business Development at Hightower, a venture backed technology start-up that has built the industry's first cloud and mobile commercial leasing and asset management platform. Prior to joining Hightower, Jameson was a Vice President in Oaktree Capital Management's Real Estate Opportunities group focused on identifying, evaluating and executing investment opportunities within the real estate space. Before Oaktree, he worked in the real estate groups at Morgan Stanley and Cerberus Capital Management. Jameson holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Southern California with emphasis in real estate and corporate finance.

Joe Johnson, Yipit
Joe focuses on product, growth, and analytics at Yipit, the largest aggregator of local deals in the United States. Previously, he worked in the Financial Sponsors investment banking group at Well Fargo Securities. He graduated from Georgetown with a B.S. in Finance and International Business.

Neal Modi, Kargo
Neal is Vice President of Revenue and Operations at Kargo, a brand advertising platform that powers mobile monetization for the world's leading media companies. He recently served as an Instructor at General Assembly, planning and developing an enterprise curriculum for mobile and tablet and monetization. Previously, Neal worked at RBS as an investment banker in the Leveraged Finance group. Prior to RBS, he worked at CB Insights, a data services startup, where his analysis on VC funding trends was featured on CNET, ReadWriteWeb, Xconomy and other news sources. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, where he was awarded the Wharton Entrepreneurial Intern Fellowship for his dedication to the entrepreneurial field.

Moderator: Sameer Syed, Genesis Media
Sameer is Director of Business Development at Genesis Media, an Adtech startup changing the way publishers monetize content. Prior to joining Genesis Media, Sameer was as an investment banking analyst at JPMorgan for three years and also spent a year in JPM's internal consulting program.
