Description
Come on out to the NYC Fashion Hack Day hosted by Gilt Groupe, Tumblr and Apigee!
Gilt Groupe and Tumblr are two of the web's go-to companies when it comes to discovering the latest fashions and hunting for inspiration for your own unique look. They also happen to be home to two of the finest tech teams in the NYC startup scene! Together with Apigee, the provider of API tools for hackers and enterprise users alike, we're happy to host a "Hack Day" at Gilt Groupe headquarters in midtown Manhattan.
Participants will have all day to build an application, website, or other technical project. Use of the Gilt and Tumblr Public APIs or any of Apigee's platforms/products is encouraged but not necessary. There are also no limitations on what you use to build the project— Ruby, Python, Node.js, Scala, COBOL... whatever you're comfortable with!
API experts from all three companies will be on hand to teach you about their services and help you get started building something. Apigee is bringing a wide array of mobile devices for anyone who wants to test how their project works with various phone and tablet platforms!
Awards will be given out to recognize the greatest technical accomplishment and the best fashion-conscious project with more plans in the works.
The event will take place all day Saturday, June 16, starting at 8am for anyone who wants to come in for breakfast or to get an early start. Lunch and dinner will also be served, and at 8pm the project entries will be gathered and teams will give short presentations on what they did. Prizes will be awarded and a party will follow.
More details including a full schedule will be sent out closer to the event.
There are a limited number of tickets, so sign up today to reserve your spot!
INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
All work you create during this event remains your intellectual property entirely; if you use any of the host companies' APIs the operation of your app/site is bound to the terms of use of those services but the ideas & code themselves are not owned by us in any way.
ANTI-HARASSMENT
We are dedicated to providing a harassment-free experience for everyone, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, or religion (and not limited to those aspects). We do not tolerate harassment of fellow participants in any form. Sexual language and imagery is not appropriate for any public behavior or talks. Participants violating these rules may be sanctioned or expelled from the event at the discretion of the event's organizers.
Harassment includes but is not limited to offensive verbal comments related to gender, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, political affiliation, or religion. Harassment also includes sexual images in public spaces, deliberate intimidation, stalking, unwelcome following, harassing photography or recording, sustained disruption of talks or other events, inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention. Participants asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately.
If a participant engages in harassing behavior, the event organizers may take any action they deem appropriate, including warning the offender or expulsion from the event. If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact an event organizer immediately.
Event organizers will be happy to help participants contact security or local law enforcement or otherwise assist those experiencing harassment to feel safe for the duration of the day. We value your attendance.
