Roivant Sciences mission is to systematically reduce the time, cost, & risk of delivering new medicines to market by accelerating the development of promising drug candidates to improve the lives of patients & their families. The company is privately held, has in-licensed 25+ assets, & is very well-capitalized. The Investments team focuses on acquiring, developing, & commercializing clinical drug candidates that can benefit from Roivants clinical development expertise and/or have been deprioritized at conventional biopharmaceutical firms due to cultural & structural barriers.

Position Summary: This position is a unique role among biotechnology companies as it more closely resembles a buy-side investor role, rather than a conventional business development position in a biopharmaceutical company. In this role, you will be responsible for building the scientific/clinical rationale & investment case for novel drug development ideas & drug acquisition targets. Because it involves the sourcing, assessment, & in-licensing of new assets & new company creation, this position is essential to achieving Roivants growth targets & company mission.


  • Understand the broad biotech/pharmaceutical market landscape & clinical development process for marketing approval
  • Review, aggregate, analyze & monitor pharmaceutical development databases & market research reports
  • Help develop & grow a robust pipeline of targets by searching publicly available databases & online resources for novel drug development ideas
  • Create & maintain an internal database of potential acquisition candidates
  • Conduct in-depth scientific, clinical & market research & financial modeling to support recommendations
  • Help inform the investment thesis through rigorous modeling of potential commercial launch trajectories & revenue projections
  • Construct persuasive investment theses in the form of PowerPoint presentations & supporting Excel models
  • Communicate theses directly to senior management advocating for specific drug development projects
  • Partner with senior members of the Investment group to assist with all elements of transactions on new investments through closing, including due diligence, valuation, deal structuring, & negotiations

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with the major scientific & medical aspects of drug development
  • Strong scientific & analytical skills & attention to detail
  • Experience writing research reports & delivering presentations that integrate multiple data sources
  • Proficiency with MS Office suite, including functions & pivot tables (Word, Excel, & PowerPoint)
  • Experience using multiple pharmaceutical competitive intelligence databases
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work cross-functionally within the organization (marketing, R&D, finance, etc.)

Experience & Education Requirements:

  • Two to three years of buy-side healthcare investing experience, primarily focused on therapeutics (or the equivalent 5-7 years of skill-building in a related discipline (e.g., VC, sell side research)
  • Bachelors degree required (preferably in science); advanced degree (e.g., PhD, MD, MBA, MSc) preferred
