Were looking for a Social Data Engineer & Analytics Manager to build/manage foundational datasets to fuel our social media/revenue reporting & provide actionable content insights.  This is an opportunity to shape & grow a high-impact data space at Team Whistle.  The Insights & Analytics team tracks, reports & analyzes social media content performance by focusing on datasets describing revenue, viewership, engagement, subscriber growth & audience demographics.  We uncover content trends & audience insights to impact our original content strategy, monetization models, marketing strategy & brand partnerships.

In this role, you will focus on the following:

50% - Data Engineering for Social/Video Platforms: build/maintain API connectors & Python web scrapers which generate data sets to fuel our social media reporting (revenue, views, engagements, watch time, etc.)

  • Maintain pre-existing data feeds 
  • Build new ones as social platforms & KPI reporting requirements change 
  • Monitor data taxonomy, quality, & completeness, & maintain relevant documentation
  • Advise analytics teammates on data pipelines & optimal data sets to use, based on business needs

25% - Revenue Operations: manage & up-level revenue reporting across our Media Network (across YouTube, Snapchat, Facebook) for both internal tracking & external partner reporting

  • Contribute to ongoing content reporting & analysis for both in-house & client channels, e.g. YouTube analytics  
  • Support branded content campaign reporting (measurement setup, in-flight tracking & post-campaign recaps)

25% - Social Media Reporting & Insights: translate data into actionable insights that increase social media video/post performance & channel growth to drive revenue

  • Contribute to ongoing content reporting & analysis for both in-house & client channels, e.g. YouTube analytics  
  • Support branded content campaign reporting (measurement setup, in-flight tracking & post-campaign recaps)

Sample Projects in a Typical Week:

  • Modify API connectors to pull in a new metric (ex: watch time across social platforms) which will feed into data trackers & executive dashboards
  • Partner with a content analyst to build/provide the optimal data set to analyze episode-level viewership trends on our slate of original shows on Snapchat
  • Forecast ad impressions across our YouTube network based on historical data; present findings to cross-functional partners from Revenue & Media Strategy teams

Desired Skills & Experience

  • 2-3 years experience as a data engineer / analytics engineer...
  • ...or 3+ years of experience in data analysis & modeling combined with a strong desire to pivot into the analytics engineering path
  • Data programming languages: Python, SQL, R, etc...
  • Cloud services & data warehouse skills: Heroku, AWS, etc 
  • Experience building & maintaining custom API connectors
  • Experience building custom web scrapers with Python (or similar)
  • Savvy with Excel and/or Google Sheets, with favorite advanced formulas & functions, ex: Pivot Tables, V-LOOKUP, etc.
  • Ability to visualize & present complex information in a simple, digestible way
  • Can translate data into stories
  • Have strong prioritization skills & are comfortable determining & managing your project timelines

  • Has worked in an analytics role (media/social/marketing)
  • YouTube analytics
  • Experience with data visualization / business intelligence software such as Tableau
