As a Research scientist, you will:

• Work collaboratively with internal & external research teams to conduct research on genomic & phenotypic data to (i) assess how published polygenic risk scores perform in Helix partners cohorts (such as Renown Health, MUSC & Health Partners) & (ii) develop & test new polygenic risk scores.
• Develop new risk models integrating rare genetic variants, common genetic variants & other phenotypic information.
• Perform GWAS & rare variant gene burden tests to discover new associations using public datasets as well as Helix partners cohorts.   
• Write & publish preprints & peer-reviewed papers. 
• Present findings at research conferences. 
• Have the opportunity to shape how Helix partners think about & integrate genomics into their clinical care pathways.

About you:

• A PhD in a relevant field (population genetics, genomics, computational biology etc)
• Experience with polygenic risk scores in large datasets 
• Experience with open-source bioinformatics tools / packages (such as Hail, PLINK, SKAT or Regenie)
• Outstanding written & oral communication skills, demonstrated with a strong publication record
• Strong programming abilities in Python or R
• Entrepreneurial spirit eager to jump in 

Pluses:

• Experience working with cloud-based analytical platforms (such as DNAnexus, Terra, AWS)
• Expertise in cancer or cardiology
