The Museum of Modern Art is currently accepting applications for a Staff Software Developer on the Digital Products team in the External Affairs department.

MoMA's digital products span many touch points that are both customer and employee facing. These include the moma.org website, in-gallery digital experiences and signage, online ticketing, content management systems, and more.

About the role:

As a staff software engineer, you'll be working with a mix of technologies, including Go, Ruby on Rails, JavaScript, and Vue applications deployed with Kubernetes backed by a Postgres database to deliver scalable software solutions across our platforms that delight our users and advance the mission of MoMA.

You'll be responsible for making key technical decisions across the stack, crafting simple-to-maintain architecture, ensuring code quality, implementing engineering best practices, and guiding/supporting other engineers.

You'll be leading projects from planning to release, working closely with other engineers and cross-functional peers to deliver on our product roadmap based on an outcome-oriented 3-5 year strategic plan.

You'll report to the Associate Director, Engineering of Digital Products.

What you bring:

- Seven or more years of relevant experience as a software engineer.
- Experience navigating legacy codebases and the ability to identify and prioritize
technical debt and modernize where necessary.
- Comfortable guiding architecture decisions at all tiers of an MVC-style web application.
- Experience establishing and enforcing technical standards.
- Experience with the following technologies: Ruby on Rails, Go, JavaScript, Kubernetes/containerization, Google Cloud Platform, Postgres.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Passion for making your peers more productive and efficient
- A growth mindset with an emphasis on learning and self/team-improvement
- An interest in modern and contemporary art.

Salary Range: Minimum of $135,000 to a maximum of $150,000 per annum
