Our end-to-end population genomics platform enables health systems, life sciences companies, & payers to advance genomic research & accelerate the integration of genomic data into routine clinical care. We support all aspects of population genomics from recruitment to translational research & help our partners use genomics to improve health outcomes, increase patient engagement, & lower costs. Leading health systems, including Renown Health, AdventHealth, & Mayo Clinic, use our population genomics platform to power some of the worlds largest & fastest-growing population genomics initiatives.
For the COVID-19 public health crisis, Helix has built one of the nations largest COVID diagnostic labs & has been on the leading edge of national viral surveillance efforts tracking B.1.1.7 & other viral strains.
What is special about this role:
Lead large-scale architecture initiatives & build Platform services that broadly impact Helix Engineering & our partners.
As a Principal Software Engineer, you will:

Architect robust distributed systems designs that are highly secure & performant.

Code systems & components that support wide-ranging product lines at Helix, from genomics to viral surveillance, lab systems to diagnostics.

Innovate on healthcare data access patterns & interoperability in order to improve health equity.

Collaborate with product managers, bioinformaticians, & scientists to build platform services.

Establish strong engineering practices that are adopted across the organization.

Mentor other engineers to reinforce a culture of learning & teaching.
Required:
-
10+ years development experience Go, Python, Java, Javascript, or a similar language
-
Expertise developing software on public cloud platforms AWS, Azure, or GCP
-
Affinity for an engineering culture that emphasizes agile, DevOps, & continuous delivery
-
A proven track record of successful, large-scale projects
Pluses:
-
BS+ in Computer Science; coursework in genetics or bioinformatics
-
Familiarity with regulated software systems & entities
-
Familiarity with full-stack development
