Today, Harrys is a team of 500+ people across the US, UK & Canada with another 600+ in our factory in Eisfeld, Germany.  We support the teams that work on all of Harrys brands - Harrys, Flamingo, CatPerson, Headquarters & Lum.

About the role

We recently created our Growth & Emerging Brands business unit to provide the autonomy & flexibility for our newer & quickly scaling brands to move fast.  This new role would support all the People needs of our newer brands (CatPerson, incubated within Harrys & Lum, recently acquired by Harrys) as well as our Harrys Labs team that runs all of our M&A & innovation processes.  We believe Growth & Emerging Brands will be a critical part of our success at Harrys going forward & plan to continue to add new brands & businesses to our portfolio.

As the Director of People for Growth & Emerging Brands, you will be partnering with Founders, CEOs & Leaders of these brands - from the Chief Growth Officer at Harrys to the Founder & CEO of Lum to the CEO of CatPerson.  You will help them design, hire, scale & retain high performing, inclusive, engaged teams.  While you will initially leverage the existing Harrys recruiting team, we would expect that over time it may make sense for you to have dedicated recruiters reporting to you.

You will lead the People side of integration for all acquired brands & help implement & scale any processes all brands need - from review processes to promotions.  While you can leverage Harrys systems & processes, you will have the freedom to build & adapt as needed.  You will partner closely with our People Operations team who will support all the operational aspects, including payroll, benefits & compliance.

This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping how our Growth & Emerging Brand group works to ensure brands are supported where helpful but also have the autonomy they need to grow.

What you will accomplish

  • Coach & advise Founders, CEOs & leaders on how to evolve org structures & ways of working as their business scales.  
  • Manage the People side of integration, ensuring we continue to empower acquired brands to grow their businesses, creating a different approach to typical integration to ensure acquired businesses retain the magic that has made them so successful
  • Develop strategy for what People processes to harmonize, when & how (e.g. leveling or compensation).
  • Drive cross cultural understanding working closely with leaders from Hs & acquired businesses 
  • Design & implement People processes for new brands that meet the needs of the stage & size of their business (e.g. performance reviews, compensation, promotion process), leveraging Hs tools where helpful & building from scratch as needed.
  • Partner with leaders on their trickiest people problems - from performance management to coaching to team engagement.  
  • Manage, design & build a team of 2-3 people to support the Growth & Emerging Brands business unit. Your team may include PBPs, People Generalists & potentially recruiters over time.

  • Initially reporting to our Chief People Officer, may report into our VP of People over time
  • Owning People Business Partner function for the business unit initially, with the potential to own Recruiting for the business unit as well
  • You will work closely with our Growth & Emerging Brands teams
