Change.org is searching for a Vice President of Engineering with demonstrated excellence at driving high-velocity development for consumer internet products at scale. Your mission will be to lead the expansion of our platform to support hundreds of millions of people to take deeper & more regular civic action on the local & global issues they care about, with the goal of helping to create more participatory & responsive democracies around the world.
We're a public benefit corporation & the largest tech platform focused on civic action in the world, with 80m monthly users, 50,000 campaigns launched on the site every month, 60 engineering staff, & a new revenue model that has grown by 500% in the past 2 years. We're profitable, growing quickly, & rapidly scaling our impact. We have local teams supporting citizen-led campaigns in 18 of the world's largest democracies, & our users win campaigns for change once every hour - from strengthening hate crime legislation in South Africa, to stopping corruption in Italy, to fighting the exploitation of the environment in Indonesia.
The VP of Engineering will be based out of our San Francisco office & report to our CEO. As a key member of our executive team, you'll oversee all aspects of Engineering, which includes feature teams for growth, engagement, & revenue, as well as horizontal teams for Platform, DevOps, & Data Intelligence across our engineering offices in San Francisco, Victoria, B.C., & Paris. Our team of 60 engineers are committed to lean & agile development, have recently transitioned to an autonomous team structure, & leverage modern web technologies (we recently built a new high-volume communications stack using Elixr, migrated our Front-end to React, & began decoupling our services with an event-driven architecture). We are 100% cloud-based through AWS.
