TripAdvisors growing Research team seeks an experienced researcher to work directly on projects that impact the companys key initiatives as a member of a cross-functional team focusing on the TripAdvisor Member Experience. Research projects will range from exploratory to evaluative, from surveys to usability testing.

Partnering with the Membership Experience team, the Senior Researcher will be responsible for bringing the user experience (attitudes, opinions, & behaviors) into product development, member programming & marketing initiatives. Through rigorous research, the Senior Researcher will be the ultimate user advocate as a member of cross-functional teams working to improve the membership experience, & to ground product marketing in foundational consumer insight.

For this position, we are looking for a mixed-methods researcher with 5+ years of qualitative & quantitative research experience in a professional setting, & an understanding of survey design & basic survey analysis. Responsibilities include: conducting usability studies (both moderated & unmoderated), designing & fielding surveys, designing click-tests/other fast forms of user feedback, & partnering with external research vendors.

The right candidate will be: experienced in qualitative methods such as in-depth interviewing & usability testing, experienced with designing surveys & basic survey analysis, passionate about research & travel, comfortable in a fast moving organization, & excited to collaborate with various research partners. Experience working with social media products and/or on membership initiatives is a plus.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Identify & optimize key opportunities to develop user insights & influence customer behavior to drive toward TripAdvisors goals

  • Define research strategy & manage projects across a variety of methodologies

  • Design from scratch & conduct qualitative studies (usability studies, click-tests etc.), analyze data, & share findings

  • Create & field surveys, analyze responses, & report findings

  • Maintain ongoing research initiatives including projects with external research vendors

  • Communicate research findings internally in clear & compelling ways

  • Work cross-functionally with design, marketing, & product management leadership

Hiring requirements:

  • Minimum BA/BS degree in psychology, communication, statistics or other related field

  • Advanced degree in HCI or other behavioral or social sciences a plus

  • 5+ years of professional applied research experience

  • Extensive experience with qualitative research methods

  • Understanding of quantitative research methods (e.g. surveying) & basic statistics

  • Experience working with social media and/or social network sites a plus

  • Detail oriented & able to manage multiple projects simultaneously

  • Ability to present clear results

  • Ability to ask, & answer, meaningful & impactful questions

  • Clear communicator
