The Technical eCommerce Strategist is responsible for supporting VaynerCommerces clients for eCommerce projects/initiatives in an efficient & professional manner. This position reports to the Director of Technical Services. 

As VaynerCommerces Technical eCommerce Strategist, you will work hand-in-hand with our Product, Development & Engineering, & Business Development teams, strategizing & architecting successful onboarding experiences for our newest clients. You will bring excitement to clients, delivering projects successfully against predetermined metrics & scopes of work. Connecting with key stakeholders, you will manage the process as prospects transition into clients, all the while seeking to understand & meet the clients needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage multiple implementations for clients, acting as a hybrid of account manager & technical/business consultant
  • Lead project design sessions & provide guidance & best practices on configuration options to meet client needs
  • Understand Shopify & VaynerCommerces proprietary platform end-to-end & collaborate with Sales, Engagement Managers, & Product to identify & communicate technical services & solutions
  • Participate in late stage meetings with prospects to consult on product capability & educate on technical implementation (including configuration, integrations, & customizations)
  • Obtain client feedback & distill into action items for our product & development teams
  • Ensure all configurations, integrations, & customizations are fully tested & ready for deployment
  • Own any problems you discover & proactively drive forward solutions
  • Be the source of truth for questions about the product, project & processes from other internal teams

Client engagement leadership: 

  • Daily communication with clients via any & all communication channels, updating clients regularly & proactively on project status, potential risks, etc. crafting all messages tactfully based on a comprehensive understanding of the clients needs, technical expertise, etc. 
  • Support clients as a senior-level leader who provides strategic guidance & hands-on management 
  • Lead & plan for all client meetings, ensuring the client & internal team are set up to utilize time productively & can walk away with a clear understanding of what was discussed + next steps 

Budget & schedule management: 

  • Maintain a constant pulse on all account activities, ensuring that all initiatives fit within the project scope 
  • Act as the project schedule owner, guiding the client to stay on track as well as supporting the internal team & leading a flow of communication on all key milestones  

Account strategy development & ownership: 

  • Actively lead all internal strategy development initiatives, owning the creation of key deliverables (requirements, creative approach, etc.) & partnering with key internal team members & client stakeholders to contribute to the process where appropriate 
  • Host & guide internal & client meetings for all strategic milestones, acting as the owner of the project vision 
  • Participate in internal strategic planning or team collaboration sessions to provide insights & guidance as needed, acting as an extension of the clients team 
  • Own the overarching client strategy throughout the engagement, ensuring that all account activities tie back to thisproactively communicating to team members & client stakeholders when changes need to be made 

Strategic work plan development & evolution: 

  • Partnering closely with our Project Management team, create a cohesive work plan that will guide client expectations, allow for clarity on key milestones, & ensure that the client is clear on their participation points 
  • Manage unavoidable changes to the project work plan by ensuring the evolution of each critical path of the work plan is effectively communicated to the client throughout the lifecycle 
  • Create & properly utilize shared planning documents with clients for ongoing clarity on status & the division of responsibilities 
  • Establish a strong rapport with the Project Management team to provide consistent internal support & ensure alignment on deliverable expectations, completion dates, team needs, & more 

Account development/growth: 

  • Recommend opportunities for growth based on strong client relationships, competitive landscape analysis, & additional agency services that fit the clients needs 
  • Work with Director of Technical Services & Project Management team to scope change orders & new projects for assigned clients 

Qualifications & Skills 

  • Innovative technologies fascinate you; you dont need to code but are familiar with web technologies
  • You are a strong relationship builder & negotiator & youre comfortable working with a client to help drive implementation requirements & negotiating on services when asked to build out a scope of work
  • You demonstrate a drive & ability to achieve stretch goals in a fast-paced environment
  • You are experienced in driving the basics of a good project management planfrom risk management to communication strategies
  • Exceptionally strong verbal & written interpersonal communication skills 
  • Impressive organizational skills 
  • Ability to stay calm & collected under pressurefocusing on goals & priorities, & effectively communicating with clients & team members during stressful situations 
  • Capable of planning & executing on responsibilities with minimal direction 
  • Strong & effective decision-making skills, with demonstrated understanding of when to bring in leadership 
  • Proven ability to work in teams effectively, leading & guiding others to success 
  • Truly thrives in a fast-paced environment 

Experience 

You have 3-5+ years of experience in either leading & managing projects for eCommerce, product/engineering teams or consulting technical account management experience related to business applications & system integrations.
