Position Description:

Okta Engineering is looking for a Lead Software Engineer to help us scale & increase velocity. You will be driving & perfecting our vision of Continuous Delivery, increasing teh velocity & productivity of engineering. You will work with a wide range of stakeholders & partners, including Engineers, Architects, Operations, Program Management & Quality. Job Duties & Responsibilities:

Major areas of responsibility include:

  • Build high quality tools & automation for internal use to support continuous delivery & developer productivity.
  • Develop, create, & modify computer applications software for our identity management & mobility management platform.
  • Design software or customize software for client use with the aim of optimizing operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with peers & stakeholders to design & implement new tools/practice/technology.
  • Analyze user needs & develop software solutions.
  • Design & implement Continuous Delivery pipelines for a diverse set of projects using Java, Jenkins, AWS, Docker, Python, Ruby, Bash, & more.
  • Build tools & automation for internal use to support continuous delivery.
  • Provide technical input by implementing Proof of Concept, influence the choice of the right technology, contribute to existing frameworks, & reviewing design & code.
  • Roll out deliverables to internal customers in phases, monitor adoption, collect feedback, & fine-tune the project to respond to internal customers needs.
  • Collaborate with peers & stakeholders to design & implement new tools/practice/technology.
  • Support pre-prod infrastructure in AWS--monitoring, backup & restore, SLA, cost control, deployment.

Minimum REQUIRED Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Strong coding & scripting skills, Java, Python, Ruby.
  • Solid understanding of CI/CD release pipelines.
  • Git, maven, build automation tools (e.g. Jenkins)
  • Expert at troubleshooting.
  • Experience with AWS, its services, & its supporting tools (cost control, reporting, environment management).
  • Ability to coordinate cross-functional work toward task completion.
  • Experience with Docker
  • Experience in Kubernetes is a plus

Education & Training:

  • B.S. in CS or equivalent
