About the Job:
In this role youll own the end-to-end-design process across all initiatives that fall under RTRs cross-functional Growth product squad as both an IC & a manager. These initiatives will inspire new customers to try RTR, normalize clothing rental as a behavior, share the magic of access to the shared closet, & help them to immediately engage with RTRs circular fashion community. Your work will help to inspire various teams across the organization by showing through design artifacts & prototypes what is possible before it is built.
Outside of project work, as a senior member of the Product Design team you will also help to set the long term vision for our product, demonstrate & help set best practices for Product Design at RTR, directly & indirectly mentor more junior design team members, & take on designops efforts that will help the team function at scale.
The ideal candidate is a resourceful self-starter with a passion for UX & UI, a desire to create best-in-class digital experiences, & expertise spanning user research, UX strategy, interaction design, animation, & visual design.
What Youll Do:
- Apply conceptual thinking & creativity to complex design problems from conception to production for site, app, email & other marketing initiatives
- Manage a small, but growing team of Product Designers
- Collaborate with peers & cross-functional partners, including product managers, product marketers, writers, engineers, & fellow designers
- Lead UX-focused efforts such as research, user flows, wireframes & user testing in addition to delivering best-in-class final designs
- Create low-fidelity prototypes followed by high-fidelity prototypes, demonstrating first functional thinking & then visual communication
- Create innovative designs that demonstrate brand consistency across all platforms & devices
- Think holistically about your designs & how they ladder into both a longer-term product vision & design system
- Thoughtfully & professionally communicate your design logic & rationale both internally with your creative peers as well as cross-functionally, to further your objectives in a collaborative & personable way
- Identify aspects of the site/app that can be improved & justify your perspective with data as well as industry best practices
- Lead & manage value & usability tests using sound research methodologysetting up screeners, discussion guides, & moderating users
- Execute innovative creative ideas to advance Rent the Runways brand vision
- Partner with other creative team members to unite the visual style consistency across the brand
- Bring positive energy & freshness to your daily collaboration with the product, tech & marketing teams to execute digital projects across all platforms
- Exude the desire to be challenged & inspired by new ways of thinking
- Manage & track asset handoff & production process for all designs
About You:
- You have a Bachelors degree plus 7+ years of product design experience, including 1+ years of management experience
- You have proven experience leading Growth-related design workfrom driving new customer acquisition & creating viral loops to optimizing the conversion funnel
- Youre a visionary who enjoys designing modern, strategic, holistic solutions that always ladder back to business & user goals
- You can conduct user tests & research with sound methodology, & understand how to apply data & insights from other teams to your designs
- You have a deep understanding of your craft & the inputs & activities that will help the success of your projects (e.g. design principles, user testing, stakeholder interviews, design sprints, etc.)
- You have a love for visual design & design systems
- Youre a collaborative team player with an interest in learning & listening to technical & non-technical partners
- Youre able to present & pitch user-focused solutions to stakeholders
- You prioritize tasks & meet deadlines under pressure with little management, & enjoy having a sense of accountability over your work
- Your designs are refined & polished
- You have a foundational knowledge of front-end development, can think technically, & know how to work with engineers to bring good design to life.
- You are fluent in Figma & the Adobe Creative Suite
- Bonus points for having previous experience working in e-commerce, fashion, and/or a startup!
