JOB DETAILS is the dedicated impact team within Flexport. We help nonprofits, NGOs & mission-driven organizations deliver aid on-time to communities in need. As climate change & the pandemic increase the need for humanitarian & development aid, our supply chain technology & expertise are more important than ever before. Our products & services empower aid organizations to get the right goods to the right place as efficiently as possible, gain visibility & control over their programs & relief efforts, & collaborate with all of their partners & stakeholders during emergencies & long-term projects.

As Flexport.orgs Business Development Manager, you will build out the infrastructure for our sales team, pursue new client opportunities & strengthen existing partnerships, & develop & implement new strategies to drive growth & scale our global impact.

You Will: 

  • Develop our sales infrastructure, tools & processes & help build out our expanding sales team
  • Create & implement strategic growth initiatives to diversify our clients, expand our geographical client & shipping footprint, & scale our impact
  • Build & manage a strong, diverse sales pipeline from end to end for to engage in aid logistics
  • Proactively consult with nonprofits, NGOs, mission-driven organizations & government agencies to understand their supply chain needs & shepherd them through the complexities of international trade
  • Manage Business Development Representatives & help lead an account management team in partnership with an Operations Manager to drive client success & social impact
  • Work cross-functionally with the rest of the team as well as other important internal teams (i.e. Legal, Partners, Trade Lane Management, Brand) to ensure the highest level of service possible
  • Collaborate with the technology team to leverage software to improve our products & scale our growth

You Should Have: 

  • 5+ years of experience in business development, sales, and/or partnership roles
  • A background in humanitarian aid, international development, or social impact (preferred)
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills, business acumen & presentation skills
  • Impact-driven: obsessed with improving global aid & maximizing the impact of both & our clients programs
  • Leadership abilities to work & collaborate effectively with multiple internal & external stakeholders
  • Hands-on, process-oriented, & structured thinking with strong problem-solving & project management skills
  • Deeply curious: always working to understand the larger problems in the humanitarian & development space, striving to become an expert on aid logistics 
  • Next-level attention to detail: enjoy combing through metrics & operational details to identify opportunities to improve internally 
  • Builder mindset: ability to set objectives & targets, define strategies, & get hands dirty while creating something new
  • A desire to join a new & fast-growing business unit - like in every startup environment, grit & a hands-on mentality are important for success, as well as flexibility & an open-mind to wearing multiple hats
