Job overview:

We are a San Francisco-based healthcare & technology company, & are looking for an experienced Platform engineer to join our growing team. Our program supports people in making lifestyle changes to improve their health, & ultimately, their lives. As a key member of our Developer Productivity engineering team, you will play a role in empowering our engineers with developer tooling, & work closest with our Platform Engineering team.  Some of the existing tools we provide include an application for other teams to test their tools; tools for GitLab, Kubernetes, & our databases; gems that fetch secrets from our secrets manager; & more.

About you:

You are a polyglot interested in at least Ruby on Rails, Go & Python. You work with empathy for your coworkers, stakeholders & users. You are excited to work cross-functionally with a variety of people & ideas. You work directly with stakeholders to design solutions & drive the technical decisions for delivery.  You are motivated to learn new technologies & ready to drive technical work.  You are enthusiastic about providing the best possible solution. The ideal candidate has experience building tools & applications, & is willing to interact with multiple teams as stakeholders.

Your impact:

  • You will be part of the development & operation of Omadas digital health program, providing tooling for other engineers to use the Platform.
  • You will work with developers to design & improve developer tooling & capability, such as secrets-management or development environments.
  • You will likely pair-program with the engineering teams.
  • Youll work closely with the product engineering teams & other technical teams.
  • Youll build cross-functional relationships with software engineers, data scientists, & technical program managers to understand stakeholder needs, & deliver on those needs.
  • You will build, maintain & troubleshoot CI/CD infrastructure.
  • You will mentor & guide the professional & technical development of team members.
  • You will work with the Engineering Leadership team to develop new initiatives & improve existing processes across the entire engineering organization, including developer productivity & system observability.
  • You will ensure that our tools match our policies (and that our policies match our tools).

Requirements for this role:

  • Experience in at least one of the following programming languages: Go, Ruby, Python, JavaScript.
  • Great communication skills, both written & verbal. Skilled at writing documentation for others.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines.
  • Building, deploying, and/or hosting Docker images & containers.
  • Experience in Application Performance Monitoring, metrics, observability, logging, etc.
  • Comfortable with Linux & the command line.
  • Interest in working in a DevSecOps culture - were moving towards this. For example, our CI/CD pipelines have some automated security testing.

  • Experience with Postgres
