SoundCloud is seeking an experienced & dynamic leader to join our global team as Sr. Manager, Communications. The Sr. Manager will play a critical & highly visible role, spearheading consumer communications efforts across the organization.
This is a full-time, NY or LA-based position reporting directly to the Vice President, Communications.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop & execute comprehensive press strategies for consumer-facing projects that amplify SoundClouds initiatives & campaigns, including but not limited to First on SoundCloud (FOSC), SCENES, Radio & more
- Act as a trusted partner to the Music, Artist & Label Relations, Data & Insights & Social teams to explore, drive & elevate the SoundCloud story to diverse audiences
- Source & secure speaking engagements, profiles & culture pieces that expertly amplify SoundClouds position as thought leaders leading whats whats next in music & as a destination for discovery & community
- Develop & manage press campaigns for targeted artist releases & announcements in collaboration with external PR agencies & artist teams
- Craft & edit press materials including press strategies & releases, pitches, briefing documents, company messaging, statements & other collateral
- Aid in the awards submissions process alongside the Director of Communications
- Be a collaborative partner cross-functionally & work effectively & confidently with senior leaders
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of the SoundCloud brand, including strategy & objectives, in addition to cultural trends & competitor landscape & apply this knowledge to strategic communications approach
Experience & Background
- 5-7 years experience in a consumer-facing communications role within a music or entertainment company
- Demonstrated success creating & executing against communications strategies & goals & securing diverse media coverage across various platforms
- Love to pitch & have strong media contacts & are on a first-name basis with top writers who cover music, culture, entertainment & lifestyle
- Understanding of the SoundCloud platform & mission & shared commitment to leading whats next in music
- Can skillfully determine the most pertinent information & communicate it - both verbally & written - in a clear & concise manner
- Previous experience taking full ownership of projects, from soup to nuts while exemplifying leadership skills
- Take a solution-oriented approach to challenges, are resourceful & able to work independently, but also a team player
- Strong organizational skills & have the ability to multi-task & re-prioritize as needed
- Passionate & knowledgeable about the music landscape; from emerging artists to the events & moments that matter most
- Flexible, adaptable & dont mind moving quickly to keep up with the demands of busy, yet exciting work environment
- Experience in a global or international role a plus
