This is why weve reimagined our Driver Hubs to include new vehicle services that will not only improve the experience for our customers, but also reduce some of the challenges that come with being a driver. Our in-house Driver Centers, where drivers will get high quality, affordable maintenance & repair with lightning speed will be building out quickly. 

As the Lead Automotive Technician, you will report into the Vehicle Service Manager & youll be responsible for the development & successful implementation of vehicle standard operating & technical procedures, workflows, trainings, etc. for our entire service technician team. The ideal candidate will be a skilled technician & leader from the automotive service industry & have a deep understanding of automobile repair as well as working to standard procedures & processes. Our focus is on doing all work, exactly right, the first time. This thoughtful approach requires someone with logical planning skills & a resulting systematic approach to getting things done. Our Lead Automotive Technicians are our primary resource in, solving problems & delivering the highest quality work for our vehicle services.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as the highest quality vehicle maintenance, diagnostic, & service technician
  • Perform all diagnostic & repair procedures including driver interactions at intake & final inspections
  • Execute against & lead our technician teams in the achievement of our KPIs & practices
  • Create documentation of repair plans & initiate parts ordering as needed
  • Lead our technician team in the ongoing development of our service center operating system, its continuous improvement, & its resulting performance
  • Support the creation & implementation of our standard process & problem-solving methods for our vehicle service technicians & administrative service teams
  • Coach & continuously develop our local technician teams in their development; including mentoring & certifying their technical skills & capabilities
  • Clean & detail vehicles, as needed
  • Maintain a clean & safe work environment on a continuous basis & comply with Lyfts repair,  safety, & regulatory guidelines 
  • Maintains & executes system standards & visual management
  • Achieves ongoing technical & process training & certification
  • Responsible for performing & documenting daily equipment inspections & ensuring equipment is ready for use
  • Operate a variety of hand, power, & shop tools
  • Partner with team members to drive efficiency & resolve complex issues

Experience:

  • 6+ years of experience in the automotive service including technical repair, diagnostic & teaming
  • Experience managing/developing a team
  • OEM, ASE, or ICAR certifications preferred 
  • OBD II Diagnostics
  • Have led, worked or apprenticed in a process-centered business operation
  • Strong systemic problem-solving capability & skills  
  • Expert knowledge & experience in automobile repairs
  • Trained in restraint system diagnosis, replacement, & reprogramming (ICAR preferred)
  • Must have a basic level of computer proficiency
  • Must have a valid unrestricted drivers license
  • Have & maintain a satisfactory driving record & be insurable under Lyft's policy
  • Ability to use basic hand tools
  • Ability to lift & carry 50 lbs
  • Capable of standing, walking, & completing repeated physical actions & functions for ~8 hours per day
