About the Role

Pursuits strategic partners play a critical role in funding the organization, hiring Pursuit Fellows, & volunteering in support of the training program. Pursuit is seeking a Business Development Associate to support the Partnerships & Business Development (PBD) team in growing its base of strategic partners.   

In this role, the Business Development Representative (BDR) will perform a variety of critical functions such as research, lead generation, email outreach, project management, & ongoing account administration spanning corporate hiring, philanthropy, volunteerism & thought leadership/marketing opportunities. In particular, building top of the funnel, pre-qualified opportunities, is a key metric of success for this role. This is an ideal opportunity for a highly motivated & organized individual with experience as an SDR or BDR to work with our best-in-class partners on closing the prosperity gap & increasing diversity & inclusion in the tech sector, while growing your career.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify new business & revenue generating opportunities, both hiring & funding, & drive lead generation, outreach, & preliminary qualification for new business prospects
  • Research, evaluate & prioritize new & existing opportunities 
  • Manage & maintain a pipeline of interested prospects & work with partnership & business development team to qualify & advance opportunities
  • Develop & prepare compelling pitch materials that are tailored to the corporate partner & that showcase Pursuits value proposition.
  • Provide administrative & operations support across the partnerships team, including scheduling, event support & maintaining customer relationship management system (Salesforce)
  • Support acknowledgement, reporting & stewardship for revenue contracts & partnership agreements.


  • 1 - 2 years experience in a sales support (sales development representative, sales associate, business development representative) business or partnership development support role 
  • Experience creating engaging outreach emails & slide presentations
  • Highly organized with a drive to create efficiencies resulting in scalable processes
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills
  • Data-driven & results-focused
  • Creative, flexible, & solution-oriented
  • G-Suite & Excel proficiency
  • Bonus points for Salesforce knowledge & proficiency
