The VP, Data Analytics/Insights will manage a team of data scientists, engineers, & analysts to develop & implement platforms & reporting services to support executive & operational reporting, demand planning, & strategic decision making.  Your passion is accurate, available data, & you have demonstrated Big Data experience.


This role will be responsible for setting & executing against department strategy to deliver scalable, collaborative data analysis & reporting platforms which support business operations teams across multiple domain areas: forecasting, growth & retention analytics, product insights, inventory management, & financial operations.  Identify & build new opportunities for cross-department collaboration, increased sharing across teams, & enhanced scalability of solutions across multiple partner groups. Drive strategy around implementing new data science methodologies & selection of new tools. You will refine & uplevel the technology architecture in our corporate data warehouses, data lakes, & integrations to source systems.

Leading a team of data scientists & analysts, this role will recruit, manage, mentor, & inspire data science team(s); managing performance, goals, & development potential. Cultivate professional development opportunities. Help team members establish development goals, align goals with business priorities, develop for the future, & evaluate success.

Partner with business operations teams & analytics product managers to anticipate, identify & facilitate the solution to enterprise issues concerning critical business needs, & support product road-mapping & prioritization decisions across the analytics portfolio.

Partner with engineering teams to influence enterprise-level data products, IT architecture, & engineering platform strategies to meet the needs of business & the data science solutions. Help shape Pelotons data science capability by creating scalable, reusable, & customizable analytical components.

Work with key business partners to understand & anticipate current & future business needs. Evangelize data science & help senior leadership identify business areas where data science will make the biggest impact. Evangelize the value of analytic products through effective storytelling & collaboration with key partners. 

Keep abreast of technology trends as well as emerging data science tools, techniques, & standard methodologies.

  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, or related field or equivalent combination of education & experience.
  • 10+ years of hands-on data science experience developing analytics systems & working with big data (preferring at least 3 years should have been in a cloud environment).
  • Experience partnering with business teams to architect & strategize technology & data roadmap
  • Experience building & leading successful data science teams including mentorship & career development of both data engineers & data analyst team members.
  • Experience communicating & collaborating with executive level audiences.
  • Experience setting long term vision & strategy with ability to establish department wide goals
  • Understand the ecosystem of diverse skills that need to come together to make a large-scale data science project successful at an enterprise scale
  • Extensive and/or in-depth knowledge of data science, machine learning, forecasting & optimization modeling, & algorithms
  • Strong familiarity with data platform technologies such as Looker, Redshift, Databricks, & Snowflake, as well as integration platforms such as Kafka.
  • Strong familiarity with the Agile development process & proven ability to prepare a project plan, communicate the plan to the team, & break the work down into trackable tasks.
  • Able to quickly pick up new programming languages, technologies, & frameworks.
  • Expert understanding of solutions & technical design.
