Who you are:
You're an experienced & energetic public sector sales professional who is highly motivated & passionate about contributing to a fast growth tech company. As our Director, Canada for Public Sector Sales, you will play a leading role as a player/coach in building our Canadian public sector non defense business, & helping our clients tackle their most difficult real-time information challenges. You will possess a proven track record of closing Public Sector sales across Canada, building a business unit from scratch & a strong depth of business acumen. You will be motivated to achieve excellent business results by exceeding revenue targets & establishing strong customer relationships within the Public Sector vertical.

You will be an expert at building organisational structure & processes, developing meaningful value propositions, & holding your business to the highest levels of performance & accountability. You combine both the ability to use data to drive best practice decision making for business growth with the art of selling to great effect & are ready to use your leadership experience to jump into a high-growth tech unicorn as we enter our next exciting growth phase.


  • Plan & implement sales strategy for Dataminr's public sector business in Canada, leveraging market knowledge & experience to convey product value proposition & positioning
  • Provide business development through opportunity identification to grow new business, driving new capabilities & incremental business success
  • Attract, retain & develop the best possible sales organization & cultivate a performance-based culture built on providing value to public sector organizations
  • Partner closely with cross-functional teams including Revenue Operations, Marketing, & Product to drive operational & product improvements
  • Maintain constant awareness of markets & competitive activity, making appropriate strategic & tactical sales recommendations to always stay one step ahead
  • Accurately forecast, update & maintain status of all prospect & client interactions in Dataminrs CRM system
  • Develop & maintain high level relationships with customer & prospect organisational leaders
  • Lead client mission & operational processes, identifying ways to integrate Dataminr into our clients' workflows & recommending best practices
  • Become an expert on Dataminr's platform with a deep understanding of its functionality, features & impact for clients
  • Execute tactical & strategic sales account plans for existing & new clients, including handling client queries effectively & dealing with objections during the sales process
  • Maintain constant awareness of markets & competitive activity, making appropriate strategic & tactical sales recommendations to always stay one step ahead
  • Must be willing to travel 30% as needed

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree; advanced degree a plus
  • 8+ years of proven enterprise software/SaaS sales experience selling to & directly supporting Canadian public sector organizations including but not limited to local/federal agencies, law enforcement, public safety or emergency response.
  • Knowledge of publicly available information & social media utilization efforts of public sector organizations, including but not limited to law enforcement, emergency management, public information, fire, & public health
  • Deep understanding of sales process & business drivers for Canadian public sector clients
  • Extensive experience of successfully selling into complex public sector entities with strong track record of negotiation & closing
  • Proven success as a sales leader in early/growth stage companies
  • Proven ability to manage a geographically dispersed sales team
  • Ability to establish clear value propositions via excellent communication skills in these forms: customer conversations; company & product presentations; written communications such as email & proposals
  • Strong solution selling skills with the ability to demonstrate strong product knowledge
  • Adept at delivering against revenue targets & business objectives while devising & operating within a strategic business plan
