Girls Who Code is an international non-profit organization working to close the gender gap in technology & change the image of what a programmer looks like & does. Since its founding in 2012, Girls Who Code has reached more than 300,000 girls in the US, Canada, the UK, & India with our free direct service programming. Girls Who Code is now one of the largest networks of after-school programs in the US with more than 8,500 Clubs & has ambitious plans for growth as schools reopen across the country. The organization also runs virtual summer programs for high school students & college programming for its alumni & young women in technology.

Through its programming, Girls Who Code is rapidly changing the makeup of computer science classrooms in K-12 & at the college level. The organization has more than 80,000 college-aged alumni who are majoring in computer science at fifteen times the national average. Its alumni are beginning to enter the technical workforce through internships & entry-level jobs, signalling real change is coming in the technology workforce.

Girls Who Code is supported by leading corporations, including AT&T, Walmart, Bank of America, Raytheon, Apple, JPMorgan Chase & Co., Synchrony, & dozens of others. In its short history, the organization was named the Most Innovative Not-for-Profit by Fast Company in 2019.

Position Summary
The Chief Program Officer (CPO) is charged with expanding & evolving a dynamic portfolio of programs for Girls Who Code. They will work as part of the Executive Leadership team to articulate & implement the strategic vision for our programmatic offerings. This role is equal parts strategy, innovation, & evaluation including new program design & continuous improvement & growth of our existing programs in the pursuit of our mission. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the CPO oversees the development & growth of Girls Who Code programmatic offerings, including those for students Grades 3-12, college-aged alumni, & those entering the workforce as interns or employees.

The successful candidate is a seasoned program leader who is strategic, innovative, & has overseen high growth & extensive scale. They are creative & have extensive experience bringing both direct & indirect program ideas to life. They will be capable & enthusiastic about leading the organization in refining & evolving existing programs & developing a strategy to lead innovation of new programmatic offerings including Alumni, Career Readiness & Workforce Development.  Given the rapid evolution of remote learning & the need for continued growth & expansion, they should also have expertise in digital learning & best practices for engaging with underrepresented groups online.

The CPO is also a key member of the executive leadership team driving the overall strategy for the organization & will serve as an external voice for the organization regarding our programmatic work.
