Job Description

General Summary

The role will support the Sr. Payroll Manager in managing payroll tax & compliance processes to ensure federal, state, & local payroll regulations are being followed as well as company policies, procedures, & internal controls.

Essential Duties:

  • Manage activities related to payroll tax, compliance & reporting.

  • Manage the ADP filing processes for federal, state & local tax returns & deposits to meet statutory deadlines in a timely manner to prevent incurring penalties & interest for noncompliance.

  • Accountability for audit support, compliance support, governance with key business partners, driving process improvement & automation.

  • Analyze complex payroll tax & compliance problems & make recommendations to improve efficiency & effectiveness.

  • Assist with vendor relationships to deliver timely, accurate & compliant processing

  • Assist with the design & implementation of proper segregation of duties, controls, & internal self-audits.

  • Collaborate with Internal Audit team to provide compliance reporting & process controls while ensuring no high-risk audit comments.

  • Create routines & collaborative partnerships to document & share best practices broadly understand business partners' needs & effectively propose recommendations.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • 5 years of work experience with a Bachelor's Degree or at least 3 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters/MBA/JD/MD)

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least 5-7+ years relevant experience of payroll tax & compliance experience preferably in a mid to large (9,000+ FTE) technology, finance & or corporate environment

  • Preferred Education:BA/BS degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or Human Resources or

  • Knowledge of federal & state tax reporting requirements & regulations

  • Experience in designing, implementing & reviewing internal controls aimed at reducing operational risk

  • Strong verbal & written communication skills & the ability to work collaboratively across teams & vendors

  • Strong client service focus; able to develop strong working relationships with team, internal partners & vendors to deliver high quality service

  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) Designation is desired

Physical Requirements

This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit & stand at a desk, communicate in person & by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones & computers, reach with hands & arms, & bend or lift up to 25 pounds.
