Legal & Compliance is responsible for managing all legal & regulatory matters, including contracts, corporate governance, general compliance, academic compliance, employment law matters, intellectual property, product counseling, government relations, & claims. The team includes dedicated teams that support every aspect of Coursera's platform, including university, enterprise, & industry partnerships.
As part of Coursera's Legal & Compliance team, you will play a key role in increasing global access to a world-class education. The Counsel or Senior Counsel (depending on experience & qualifications) is responsible for negotiating agreements with university partners (including agreements related to MasterTrack & degree programs). The Counsel/Senior Counsel will support a majority of Coursera's US-based university partners & will also be provided with opportunities to assist with international matters. The role requires the Counsel/Senior Counsel to identify & advise on business & legal issues of proposed transactions, & to respond in a timely, thoughtful manner to partner & internal stakeholder enquiries. The individual that fills the role is expected to be widely respected by the Legal & Compliance team & throughout the company due to their analytical thinking, savvy risk management, communication skills, & ability to get things done. We expect the Counsel/Senior Counsel to form strong working relationships with internal clients & Coursera's partners, earn the respect of the teams, & lead through productivity & influence.
