About the Role: 

The Programming Manager at Chief is instrumental as we continue to build & develop our virtual & in-person events for Chief members across New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Boston, & Washington, DC.  The ideal candidate has a  pulse on industry trends & culturally relevant topics & is a storyteller by nature. This role will help contribute ideas, book talent, & develop workshops & conversations across all of Chiefs markets. This role will report directly to the Head of Programming & will work in close collaboration with our event managers on bringing our virtual & in-person events to life. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Ideate, develop, & manage the programming of events across all Chief markets with the end goals of member satisfaction, member retention, & brand awareness
  • Contribute ideas & suggestions  in development of world-class programming & initiatives that are touchstone moments in the member journey across different industries & demographics
  • Contribute to overall development of events vision & strategy & propose trends, technology & leading innovations for new event formats across all Chief locations & functions which creates value for members
  • Manage & nurture the speakers experience from booking, satisfaction, & overall partnership
  • Work across departments to identify moderators for our conversations & icon events
  • Collect information & partner in the creation of event marketing materials pre-event
  • Work with speakers & their team for necessary approvals related to Chief brand & marketing post-event
  • Development of event content, including: scripts & moderator questions for a variety of events
  • Monitor & escalate event requests that come in from members
  • Share in hosting duties during events
  • Work closely with our Events Managers who oversee our event production & logistics to ensure that the programming is accurately represented at events
  • Take informational calls with prospective speakers to determine programming fit
  • Research & suggest up & coming speakers & relevant trends
  • Help to keep database & calendar hygiene 
  • Ability to work with remote teams to scale programs as we launch in new markets

What We're Looking For:

  • 3-5+ years experience in events or editorial with a keen eye towards content & programming, event programming, cultural event production experience 
  • 2+ years of experience in in-person or virtual event production
  • Deep understanding of & passion for Chiefs mission & existing community & the passion to help grow & further this as we grow
  • Research, organizational skills & extraordinary relationship building skills
  • Willing to work flexible hours including early mornings & late evenings due to a busy events schedule 
  • You are no stranger to deep research spirals on Wikipedia, YouTube, podcasts, blogs, & more
  • Curious, with a pulse on culture, brands, & trends in events 
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, with strong project management skills & the ability to prioritize & multitask
  • Self-motivated, strategic creative worker with a drive for executional excellence
  • Creative thinker & problem solveralways looking beyond the available options when up against roadblocks
  • Strong communication skills & ability to cross-functionally collaborate to execute projects, including with those who may be remote
  • Work with a "no task too big, no task too small attitude
  • You are never satisfied with the status quo, always thinking "how can we do this better?"
  • Ability to work in a cross-functional organization & demonstrate team leadership skills
  • Experience learning & navigating within a high-growth & fast paced environment
  • Able to physically stand, bend, squat, & lift up to 40lbs
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office & Google Suite Products is a must
  • Knowledge of Zoom, Airtable, Slack, Salesforce, & Notion are a plus
  • Bachelors degree hospitality, tourism management, communications, or related industries are a plus but not required
