Description

Chris Anderson, Former Editor-in-Chief of Wired, was so stoked about 3D Manufacturing, it was a featured part of his newest book: Makers: The New Industrial Revolution. (correction from our announcement email). He believes it will be bigger than the Web. http://www.businessinsider.com/chris-anderson-makers-excerpt-2012-12

We're assembling an all-star group of 3D Printing & Manufacturing Pioneers featuring demonstrations, a panel discussion and Q&A. Brooklyn is at the left of this rapidly growing widely-covered sector. We're already seeing countless amazing entrepreneurs spring up around this technology.

Stay tuned for more information on guests and programming. Confirmed participants include principals from MakerBot, D-Shape, Shapeways and Brian Jepson, editor from Make Magazine, organizer of Maker Faire. (Chris Anderson is not a guest). We hope to have 3D Machine demos before the panel. There's a good chance you'll see related books and magazines for sale and a few being given away.

Our panel will be moderated by Jim Kohlenberger. Jim was recently Chief of Staff for the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP.). While in the White House he helped the Administration make historic strides that resulted in a fundamental new commitment for harnessing science, technology, innovation, and broadband for boosting long term economic growth and helping Americans live longer healthier lives.

Jenny Lawton is Chief Strategy Officer for MakerBot Industries, a leading company in the explosive world of 3D printing and personal manufacturing. Over the past 20 years, she has earned a reputation as a respected company builder, technologist, and advocate for fostering entrepreneurship. In 1991, Jenny cofounded Net Daemons Associates (NDA), an information technology consulting firm. With Lawton as CEO, NDA was recognized on the 1998 Inc. 500 list of the fastest growing privately held U.S. companies and on the Deloitte and Touche Fast 50 and Fast 500 lists for 1997 and 1998. In 1999, Net Daemons was acquired by Interliant Inc. (formerly Sage Networks), where Lawton served as a senior vice president. She later worked as an entrepreneur-in-residence with Softbank and Mobius Venture Capital.

MakerBot is a sponsor at the April 22-23, 2013 Inside 3D Printing Conference & Expo at the Javits Center: http://inside3dprinting.com/ Stay tuned, we are working on getting discounted admission for our attendees (no promises).

Note:

Guests are welcome, please have them join the group and rsvp separately. Even if the wait list is long, you should rsvp and plan to attend. There is a good chance you will get in, as we have a decent amount of no shows and last minute cancellations.
