Description

Media is changing quickly. How do traditional publishers stay relevant in a disintermediated new world? Come find out with a panel of the best and brightest from startups, and big players, in the publishing space.

Angela Tribelli, WG'04, CMO, HarperCollins As HarperCollins first CMO, Angela is helping HarperCollins think more like marketer. An outsider to the book industry she joined HarperCollins at a crucial time. Publishers can no longer rely on others to market for them. They have to market, and help their authors in marketing, books, ebooks, and other products directly.

Kate Lee, C'99, Director of Content, Medium Kate was hired to Medium just last month after spending almost a decade as "wunderkind literary agent" at International Creative Management. If you don't know, Medium is the new longer-form startup by Twitter founder Ev Williams. She'll be bringing her connections and discerning eye to Medium to build out Medium's team working to attract, and "bubble up" the best content on the web.

Shafqat Islam, C'03 and ENG'03, CEO, NewsCred

Shafqat founded NewsCred in 2007 to connect publishers and brands with great journalism. NewsCred has innovative tech and some of the best sources to reinvent the concept of the newswire. They license, analyze and syndicate articles, images and videos from publishers, like The Economist and Forbes, and thought leaders like Bill Clinton and George Soros.

Wine and light food will be served. Thanks to our hosts, Cooley LLP.
