At a recent StoryCode NYC Forum we heard a filmmaker make an interesting statement during her presentation when asked about Directing for 360 Video/Virtual Reality. She said, "Directing for VR was much more like Directing for Theater than traditional Filmmaking".

That got us thinking, & we are excited to present two leading Immersive Theater creators to help us unpack this.

June's StoryCode NYC Forum will explore how can we take inspiration from Immersive Theater & use it in the Virtual Reality work we create. We welcome Andrew Hoepfner (Creator of Houseworld & Co-Creator of Whisperlodge) & David Gochfeld (Director of HamletVR).

ABOUT ANDREW HOEPFNER
Andrew Hoepfner is a playwright & musician based in Brooklyn. He is the creator of Houseworld, an immersive theater experience, & the co-creator of Whisperlodge, a live ASMR experience. Andrew has toured the world in various bands & has collaborated on previous works with Young Jean Lee, Shilpa Ray, Cesar Alvarez, & David Byrne.

ABOUT DAVID GOCHFELD
David Gochfeld creates performance experiences at the intersection of the real & virtual, drawing on his training in classical & contemporary theatrical techniques as well as interaction design & creative technology. He has created & performed pieces internationally & has recently shown work at the Tribeca Film Festival Interactive Playground & VR Arcade, the Daily News Innovation Lab, Come Out And Play, & Creative Tech Week NYC.

He co-created FutureMate, which won the first StoryCode Transmedia Hackathon at Lincoln Center, & was nominated for a New York Innovative Theatre Award. He also has been a member of the Lincoln Center Directors Lab. He holds a Masters from NYU's Interactive Telecommunications program, & trained with Jacques Lecoq, Philippe Gaulier, & at the National Shakespeare Conservatory.
