Description

This month we have a new speaker joining us, Brett DiDonato. Brett DiDonato is the founder of the gift recommendation website Giftivo.com. In the past, Brett has worked as a software developer in the financial services industry. Brett has a B.S. in Computer Science from Syracuse University.

From Brett:

Despite its age, email is still perhaps the best form of follow up engagement for website visitors. If you collect email addresses and simply spam your address book with static emails though you will probably not get the reception that you want. Instead, let's build an automated system that will send out emails with personalized content that offers the user real value. I will show you how I built an automated email system for my Django based website hosted on Amazon Web Services. This system sends out email reminders for important life events, such as birthdays, holidays and important life events. Users log in to the website, configure the event, the reminder date and what people the event applies to. The user will then receive an email on the reminder date with a list of personalized gift recommendations. The technologies covered can be used to send automated emails of all types to website visitors with a truly personalized message that will really resonate.

Additionally, this month we have an awesome new sponsor offerpop who will be hosting the meetup. Offerpop is a super easy-to-use social marketing platform for Facebook and Twitter. You can check out some of their recent press on Venture Beat.

See you all there!

P.S. The doors to Offerpop's offices lock at 6PM. We'll try to have somebody available to let stragglers in but if there's nobody there to let you in when you arrive, call or text Sean at 845-669-0883.
